  When Youth Create positive art and music, youth create their own places of self and self-expression.  
     
 

ABOUT:

Founded in 2006 with a grant from the Attorney General of West Virginia, When Youth Create is a community arts program for the youth of Jefferson County, West Virginia. WYC is program of FOCUS.

 

MISSION:

The mission of When Youth Create is to connect youth with the arts as a way to strengthen positive facets in their lives and foster personal growth and healthy communities.

 

JOIN US:

When Youth Create invites area musicians, artists and other adults to participate in the program by serving as mentors, teachers, volunteers, and resources. Stipends are available for artists and teachers. Businesses, agencies, and art centers are invited to contribute monetarily or in other ways of support, i.e. space for events, program development, materials, staff, referrals, and art activities. Youth are invited to participate through leadership councils, street teams, programs, and creative expression.
