Kruidener, J., (2002) Research-Based Principles for Adult Basic Education: Reading Instruction. Portsmouth, NH:  RMC Research Corporation. Identifies and evaluates existing research related to adult literacy reading instruction. It’s purpose is to provide principles and practices for adult education practitioners. It represents the best information available about how adults learn to read.

Levine, Ellen & Bjorkman, Steve. (1989). I Hate English.  New York, NY:  Scholastic. A children’s text which exemplifies an ELL’s experience.

Marlowe, B., & Page, M. (2005).  Creating and Sustaining the Constructivist Classroom. Thousand Oaks, CA:  Corwin Press. Provides for discussion on the definition, foundations, research and practical issues of constructivism.  It’s a practical guide to help teachers understand and implement constructivist principles.
